Kidney Surgery and Transplant Workshop

The Kidney Surgery and Transplant Workshop will facilitate the training of minimally invasive laparoscopic upper tract surgery, open kidney transplant, hypothermic kidney perfusion pumping and laparoscopic simulation training. This training will involve surgery of live porcine model and practice with laparoscopic simulation models.

Objectives
  • Practice the transplant vascular anastomosis
  • Learning the suturing and anastomosis to the big vessels

  • Urology / Surgical residents and fellows
  • Medical / Nursing trainees with an interest in organ transplantation
  • Operating Theatre Nurses/ transplant coordinators / allied healthcare professionals involved kidney transplantation

  • Laparoscopic renal dissection – Hilar dissection for donor nephrectomy
  • Laparoscopic ureter / ureter repair
  • Laparoscopic re-implantation of ureter
  • Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy / donor Nephrectomy

Station 4: Laparoscopic Simulation Model for Partial Nephrectomy – Evaluation

Station 5: Laparoscopic Training with E-BLUS Training Models

12.00pm to 2.00pm Changeover and porcine turnover / Lunch
